Virpazar, on three bridges located in the center of Crmnica, sung in old folk songs, but still today the inspiration of many musicians.

Virpazar, on three bridges located in the center of Crmnica, sung in old folk songs, but still today the inspiration of many musicians.
It is located at the “crossroads”, where many roads intersect, the highway Podgorica – Bar, as well as the railway Belgrade – Bar.
One of the symbols of Virpazar are three bridges, as well as cultural and historical monuments, monasteries and fortifications.
Above Virpazar are the remains of the Besac fortress built by the Turks.
The name of the fortress originated from the Turkish word “besa” which means “given word” and many legends about buried treasure were connected to this fortification.
A prehistoric necropolis with tombs covered with large stone slabs was found in the village of Mijele.
Virpazar was first mentioned in 1242, in the letter of King Vladislav, where it was stated that it was an important trade center.
It was also one of the first post offices in Montenegro.
Authentic rural architecture is what adorns this place and that is exactly why it has become tourist destination, and in addition to authentic architecture, tourists can try the well-known Crmnica wine of high quality and lake bleak.
Skadar Lake has been protected as a national park since 1983 and is home to a large number of plant and animal species, about 280 species of birds and 50 species of fish.
Everything that the sea coast has to offer also can lake, because the beaches are very beautiful and are a real pleasure if you want to avoid the crowds on the Adriatic coast.
So Virpazar certainly has something to offer its guests when it comes to the beauty of this urban settlement; from historical remains, flora and fauna, beaches, vineyards and wine, home-made meals, etc.
What Virpazar is also recognizable for is the Wine and bleak Festival, an event that you can enjoy with wine and various fish specialties.
